FoodShare Toronto is a non-profit community organization whose vision is to provide good, healthy food for all.
Founded 26 years ago to address hunger in our communities, FoodShare takes a multifaceted and long-term approach to hunger and food issues. FoodShare works to empower individuals, families and communities through food-based initiatives, while also advocating for the broader public policies needed to ensure that everyone has adequate access to sustainably produced, good healthy food.
As one of its initiatives, FoodShare has been instrumental in spearheading the model for student nutrition programs in the city of Toronto. Its approach involves bringing food-based education to our schools, as well as transforming on-the-ground meal programs.
It is actively involved in creating models for teaching and fostering healthy eating by delivering fun, hands-on, curriculum-linked activities. FoodShare seeks to remind children what food is and where it comes from, and to impart that healthy food also tastes good. The ultimate goal is to help children acquire food literacy skills and learn to make good food choices, on their own.
We share FoodShare’s vision that all children and youth should have access to healthy and delicious foods, as well as learn the tools to make life-long, healthy food choices.
In support of that mandate, we are pleased to have donated 1,500 lunch bags for use in FoodShare's school programming. Most recently, Fluf lunch bags were given out to 500+ students at Eat-in-Ontario, its province-wide fall harvest celebration teaching students of all ages the joys of cooking, growing and tasting good, healthy food!
Rock-on FoodShare!!
