FABRICS AND PRODUCTS
What materials does Fluf use in its products?
We are a textile-based company. We design most of our own fabrics and
print on a chemical-free blend of hemp and organic cotton. We also work
with 100% certified organic cotton, as well as 100% woven wool. And
we’ll be introducing some recycled hemp in 2011!
Why hemp?
We love hemp (the fabric!). Not only is it beautiful, hemp is also one
of the most durable, abundant and environmentally sustainable fibres on
earth. It thrives in most regions with little water, and is quick
growing and low maintenance. It is naturally pest resistant, so it
requires no pesticides to aid in its growth. It requires no herbicides
and little or no fertilizer, and it returns 60 to 70% of the nutrients
it takes from the soil. Finally, very little goes to waste with hemp:
seeds are used to make oil and food supplements, while the stalks are
used for fibre.
Why organic cotton?
While the conventional versus organic cotton debate rages on, we’ve come
down strongly on the side of organic. Conventional cotton is considered
the world’s “dirtiest” crop due to its heavy use of insecticides, the
most hazardous pesticide to human and animal health (not to mention the
effect it has on the planet). In contrast, organic cotton is grown
without pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Organic
agriculture protects the health of people and the planet by reducing the
overall exposure to toxic chemicals that can end up in the ground, air,
water and food supply.
Why woven wool?
Wool is a naturally biodegradable, renewable resource. It is soil
resistant and flame retardant without the addition of any toxic
chemicals. Our wool is incredibly durable and is processed
conscientiously in Denmark, with reduced environmental impact. All dyes
are heavy metal free.
How and where are Fluf fabrics printed?
Our Fluf original fabrics are screen-printed by the yard in Toronto,
Canada, using water-based, heavy metal free, biodegradable pigments.
Where are Fluf products made?
All products made from our printed fabric yardage, including our printed pillows and handbags, are cut and stitched in Toronto.
Our 100% certified organic cotton lunch bags are manufactured conscientiously in China. Our Chinese manufacturing partner is committed to a working environment that is healthy and safe. Moreover, employees are paid fair wages, have health insurance, are given sick and maternity leave benefits, and more.
Where are Fluf’s raw materials sourced?
Our hemp is sourced from China (hemp is not grown in the U.S.; it is
grown but not woven into fabric in Canada). Our certified organic cotton
is sourced from China and/or Turkey. The New Zealand wool used in our
wool punch pillow collection is woven in Denmark.
Are Fluf fabrics available for sale by the yard?
Our fabrics are not available by the yard at this time. However, if you
have a large project, please feel free to contact us to discuss your
needs. We would be happy to help if we are able to.
Can I order custom fabrics and/or products?
Currently, we cannot customize individual products or fabrics by the
yard. We do, however, offer some customization for promotional products,
as well as private labelling. Please contact us for more information.
Can Fluf send me fabric swatches?
We are only able to send fabric swatches to members of the trade and retail partners at this time.
How do I care for my Fluf products?
In addition to its other benefits, hemp washes well and naturally
becomes softer with washing. Our hemp and organic cotton products are
all machine washable, and we recommend air-drying. Each product also
contains an individual care label, which will provide more information
specific to your product. Woven wool pillows can be spot or dry cleaned
(the pillow insert is removable).
Do Fluf pillows come with the insert?
Yes! All of our pillows come with a removable feather/down pillow insert
(or “stuffing”). If you would like to order pillows without the insert,
please contact us and we can arrange that.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS*
What are Fluf’s shipping rates?
We are happy to offer free standard shipping (1-2 weeks) within Canada and the continental United States on orders of $75 or more, before tax. If you would like to receive your item faster, please contact us for shipping rates.
For orders under $75, a shipping charge of $9.50 will automatically be added to your total during checkout.
Will sales tax be added to my order?
That depends. We are required to charge applicable provincial and
federal sales taxes to orders shipping to destinations within Canada. We
do not add any Canadian sales tax to products leaving Canada, including
those shipping to the United States. These products may, however, be
subject to import duties or taxes in accordance with the laws of the
destination country, which you or the recipient may be responsible for
at the time of delivery. If you would like more information regarding
possible import charges, please contact your local customs office.
How and from where will my order ship?
We ship FedEx Ground or UPS Ground to most North American destinations.
Most of our products ship from Toronto. Our organic cotton lunch bags
are also warehoused in Texas, so lunch bag orders destined for U.S.
addresses may ship from there.
How soon will my order ship?
Items that are in stock generally ship out within two to three days of
the order date. If, for any reason, your order will take longer than
that, we will notify you. Shipping generally takes about one week but
can be faster or slower depending on the circumstances. If you need your
order to arrive faster, please contact us to arrange expedited
shipping.
Can Fluf ship internationally?
We currently offer delivery throughout Canada and the continental United
States. We regret that we cannot ship to other destinations at this
time.
What is Fluf’s return policy?
We hope that you love your Fluf product! But if for any reason you
aren’t completely satisfied, you are welcome to return your product for a
full refund (less round-trip shipping charges). Please see our full
return policy for more information.
Did we answer your question?
We hope so! If not, please call us at 877.962.3583 or email us.
